Enrichment

From September-December of your study programme you will develop wider skills to enhance your progression options post college during ‘Enrichment sessions’. You can select a different ‘Enrichment’ option each half term. From January onwards you will then select a support/study skills session each half term for support in preparing for examinations in place of ‘Enrichment’ sessions.

Enrichment sessions will be available in the following areas:

  • Art
  • Biomedical
  • Chemistry
  • Creative
  • Criminology
  • Computing
  • Debating
  • English
  • First aid
  • Geography
  • History
  • Legal
  • Maths
  • Media
  • Spanish
  • Physics
  • Politics
  • Psychology

All learners will take part in a group or individual social action project from September-December supported by staff but organised and run by learners. Working on these projects strengthens problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, communication and confidence whilst giving back to the community and enhancing your CV and university applications.

Finally, in each year of your study programme learners will have one week off timetable dedicated to work experience. Learners will be supported by their Tutor Learning Mentor ahead of this week to secure a placement.

Navigating College Life: Support and Independence

Personal tutorials

The relationship between you and your tutor is an essential and amazing element of college life. Unlike school, you’ll meet with your tutor once a week for a group session as well as individual 1-to-1s. Whether it’s personal support, academic support, careers guidance and other relevant activities, Tutors are there to support you on numerous levels.

Independent study time

Every student has allocated time for independent study in their timetable. You can spend this time completing work, revising or just chilling out with friends either on or off campus. You’ll have access to silent study areas, our LibraryPlus and subject resource areas during these periods.

Halo workplace logo

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
